Joey Bosa finds himself in search of a new team after a one-year stint in Buffalo.

It marks the second straight season Bosa will join a new team. Prior to Buffalo, the edge rusher spent nine seasons as a member of the Chargers.

Last season, Bosa recorded only five sacks in 15 games. He also forced five fumbles, a career high with Buffalo.

Not since the 2021 NFL season has the Ohio State product reached at least 10 sacks in a season.

Joey Bosa Contract: Predicting Bosa’s Free Agency Deal

Projecting Bosa’s next contract is a somewhat difficult task.

On the one hand, he offers a younger alternative to players like Danielle Hunter and Trey Hendrickson, who received sizable contracts this offseason.

But Bosa has struggled to rush the passer, evidenced by his declining sack numbers. If there’s a silver lining, it’s that his 47 pressures last year marked his highest output since 2021.

His 88.7 PFF pressure grade ranked seventh amongst all edge rushers last season.

My guess is Bosa lands a two-year deal worth around $20-25 million per season. That would place him just beneath Hendrickson, but above a one-year contract signed by Khalil Mack.

Joey Bosa Next Team Predictions

One destination that stands out for Bosa is a reunion with brother Nick Bosa in San Francisco.

The 49ers’ injury issues last season exposed a weak pass rush. After Bosa sustained a season-ending injury, San Francisco showed no ability to rush the passer.

A 1-2 Bosa punch could shore up some of those pass-rush issues. Additionally, we know from reports that San Francisco expressed interest in Maxx Crosby, so adding a rusher seems a priority.

Another team to keep an eye on is the Indianapolis Colts. Indy lost Kwity Paye to Las Vegas, adding Arden Key as a replacement.

Still, the team lacks a consistent pass rush presence. Last season, the Colts ranked 30th in ESPN’s pass-rush win rate metric.

With some decent spending power, the Colts could offer a decent landing spot for Bosa.
