Last Time the Titans Drafted First Overall

  • The Tennessee Titans have drafted first overall twice in franchise history.
  • Not since the 1978 NFL Draft has Tennessee held the top pick.
  • Miami quarterback Cam Ward is predicted to go first overall in 2025.

Many moons have passed since the Tennessee Titans held the first overall pick in the NFL Draft.ย

In franchise history, the Titans picked first twice, with the most recent occurrence coming in the 1978 NFL Draft. That year, the Titans โ€“ then the Houston Oilers โ€“ selected Earl Campbell.ย

Campbell went on to win offensive rookie of the year before setting off on a Hall of Fame career.ย

That marked the second time in the 70s Houston, now Tennessee, picked first. In 1973, the Oilers selected defensive end John Matuszak first overall.ย

This marks the first time since the Oilers relocated and became the Titans that theyโ€™ll own the first overall pick.ย

Based on NFL Draft odds, oddsmakers predict the Titans draft Miami quarterback Cam Ward first overall.ย
