An end to the Maxx Crosby-Las Vegas Raiders relationship appears imminent.

Crosby expressed frustration late last season with the Raiders’ handling of an injury. The team shut down their star edge rusher with two games left on their way to the No. 1 pick.

Trade rumors filled the early NFL offseason with potential landing spots for Crosby. However, Raiders GM John Spytek said at the 2026 NFL Combine he expects Crosby to return.

Any trade for the 29-year-old rusher would likely require a sizable haul in return for Vegas. Here are three possible destinations for Crosby if the Raiders elect to trade him.

Maxx Crosby Trade: 3 Potential Landing Spots for DE

It’s unlikely the Raiders trade Crosby within the AFC West. However, the Los Angeles Chargers could prove a win-now destination that absorbs Crosby’s contract.

Khalil Mack is a free agent in 2026, leaving the Chargers with a need at edge rusher. That, of course, assumes Mack takes a contract with another franchise.

Los Angeles ranked as a middle-of-the-pack defense in pass-rush win rate and no-blitz pressure rate last season. A move for Crosby instantly improves that protection.

If Las Vegas elects to move Crosby to the NFC, the Washington Commanders offer another potential landing spot.

Washington enters the offseason with $73.6 million in cap room. The team can add another $73.6 million via contract restructures, per Over the Cap.

Washington lacks draft compensation this year, but still has its complement of picks in 2027 and 2028.

Finally, keep an eye on the San Francisco 49ers. Nick Bosa tore his ACL early in 2025 and will return in 2026 off that injury.

Still, a Crosby-Bosa pairing would rival some of the best pass rush duos in the league. Last year, San Francisco finished last in the NFL with only 20 sacks.

Maxx Crosby Contract: Trade Details for Las Vegas

For Las Vegas, the benefits of trading Crosby are obvious. This year, the team would free up a ton of cap space to address a fragile roster.

Trading Crosby before June 1 leaves Las Vegas with only $5.1 million in dead money. They’d simultaneously save $30.7 million in cap space.

The same is true if Las Vegas trades Crosby after the June 1 cutoff. That would leave Las Vegas with the most cap space in the league during the offseason.

In theory, the Raiders could then build a nucleus around likely first-overall pick Fernando Mendoza.
