- The New York Giants are currently +1800 to make the postseason after Week 4.
- New York reached the divisional round in 2022, but missed the postseason in 2023.
- Why a lackluster offense means the Giants will miss this yearโs postseason.
Based on NFL odds and Giants playoff odds, the New York Giants are predicted to miss the postseason this year.ย
New York, which plays the NFLโs hardest schedule, faces an uphill climb to make the postseason. Currently, oddsmakers price New York at ย to make the playoffs.ย
Conversely, New York owns ย odds to miss the postseason in 2025.ย
Prediction: Will the New York Giants Make the Playoffs?ย
If not for the fact that I expect the NFC East to prove quite chaotic, I would be tempted by the Giants to have the NFLโs Fewest Wins (+700).ย
The good news for Giants backers is the team ran wildly unlucky in 2024.ย
New York earned only three wins, but Brian Dabollโs side finished 1.5 wins under expected thanks to seven losses by a touchdown or less.ย
Five of those seven losses came within the division. However, one came in Week 18 against the Eagles, who were quarterbacked by Tanner McKee.ย
Now for the bad news. Based on NFL win totals, New York faces the leagueโs hardest schedule in 2025. Of New Yorkโs eight home games, six come against teams that made the playoffs.ย
Ultimately, New York avoiding a race for the first overall pick likely comes because of Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston producing a career renaissance or the Giants hitting on Jaxson Dart.ย
Whoever ends up starting for New York will contend with one of the leagueโs worst offensive lines.ย
Last season, the Giants ranked 26th in pass-block win rate and 27th in run-block win rate, per ESPN.ย
Most of New Yorkโs offseason activity came on defense, which is projected to face the 12th-hardest set of offenses based on 2024 offensive DVOA ratings.ย
Paulson Adebo and Jevon Holland arrive from New Orleans and Miami, respectively. For New York, that duo has to help improve a pass defense that ranked 30th in DVOA last season.ย
Now, for another piece of good news with the Giants: they performed admirably against the run last season. Only 10 defenses ranked better in rush defense DVOA.ย
But that marked the first time since 2019 the Giants ranked better than 17th in rush defense DVOA.ย
If that unit takes a step back and the secondary fails to improve, offensive improvement might not matter.ย
For those reasons, I ultimately expect the Giants to miss the playoffs.ย
If not for the fact that Philadelphia and Washington qualify as negative regression candidates, the +700 price on New York to amass the fewest wins would tempt me.ย
