  • Jeremiyah Love is predicted to become the latest RB to go in the first round.
  • Currently, Love is -750 to hear his name called within the first five picks.
  • Not since the 2016-17 NFL Drafts have running backs gone inside the top-10 in consecutive years.

For the second straight year, a running back is predicted to hear their name called in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love is projected as a first-round pick based on NFL Draft odds. If Love goes inside the first 10 picks, he would follow Ashton Jeanty (2025) as one of few first-round running backs.

Not since the 2016 and 2017 NFL Drafts have two running backs gone inside the first 10 picks in consecutive years. Currently, Love is to go inside the top five.

Most of that probability stems from Love going fourth overall to Tennessee. As it stands, Love is to go fourth overall.

Next closest amongst the first five picks is Love going third overall to the Arizona Cardinals. Currently, Love is to go third overall.

Most Running Backs Selected in First Round

Selections of running backs in the first round have dried up recently. Since 2013, only three drafts saw multiple selections in the first round.

Since 2005, six drafts saw at least three running backs selected in the first round: 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012.

The record belongs to the 2008 NFL Draft, which saw five running backs selected in the first round: Darren McFadden, Jonathan Stewart, Felix Jones, Rashard Mendenhall and Chris Johnson.
