Ranking NFL Week 1 Games: Most Watchable to Least

1. 49ers/Rams (-3.5) – Thursday, Sept. 10 8:35 p.m.

Can make the case that this is an NFC Title game preview in Week 1. The game is in Australia and features two huge rivals in Shanahan and McVay. It doesn’t get better in Week 1.

2. Bills (-1)/Texans – Sunday, Sept. 13 1:00 p.m.

A legitimate AFC title game preview in Week 1. The Texans defense vs. Josh Allen and the Bills offense. We will learn about both of these Super Bowl contenders in this game.

3. Patriots/Seahawks (-3) – Wednesday, Sept. 9 8:20 p.m.

A Super Bowl rematch in the season opener; need I say more?

4. Broncos/Chiefs (-2.5) – Monday, Sept. 14 8:15 p.m.

Patrick Mahomes returns to the Chiefs lineup as the empire hopes to strike back. The Chiefs got swept by the Broncos last year, and Denver won the AFC West. The winner of this game will stake a (very, way too-early) claim as the team to beat in the division.

5. Packers/Vikings (-1.5) – Sunday, Sept. 13 4:25 p.m.

Can Jordan Love pass the Packers to a win? Green Bay will have to score with Micah Parsons out. If Kyler Murray and the Vikings want to be a playoff team, this is a game they almost have to win at home.

6. Cowboys (-3)/Giants – Sunday, Sept. 13 8:20 p.m.

Awesome choice for the SNF opener. Will Dak Prescott and the Dallas offense shred what could be a solid Giants defense? Can Jaxson Dart avoid the blue medical tent? The winner of this game will be dreaming playoffs.

7. Ravens (-3.5)/Colts – Sunday, Sept. 13 1:00 p.m.

The Ravens should be improved this year under new head coach Jesse Minter, but what would we expect from the Colts? Indy could go 12-5 or 5-12, and I wouldn’t be surprised. I can’t wait to watch Lamar Jackson in Declan Doyle’s offense.

8. Commanders/Eagles (-4.5) – Sunday, Sept. 13 4:25 p.m.

Can the Commanders get back to the heights they reached in Jayden Daniels’ rookie year, when they lost the NFC Title game in Philly? We’ll find out on Sunday. And how will the Eagles’ new offense look with Sean Mannion calling plays for Jalen Hurts?

9. Buccaners/Bengals (-3.5) – Sunday, Sept. 13 1:00 p.m.

Is the new-look Bengals defense good enough to get them into the playoffs? If not, the Bucs should score a ton of points.

10. Bears (-3)/Panthers – Sunday, Sept. 13 1:00 p.m.

Two well-coached offenses against two potentially bad defenses. Hell yes.

11. Saints/Lions (-7) – Sunday, Sept. 13 1:00 p.m.

More offensive fireworks on tap in the dome with two defenses that aren’t exactly the ’85 Bears.

12. Browns/Jaguars (-8.5) – Sunday, Sept. 13 1:00 p.m.

Can Deshaun Watson be even halfway decent? If so, the Browns could cover a big number and keep this game closer than expected against the reigning AFC South champion Jaguars.

13. Cardinals/Chargers (-10) – Sunday, Sept. 13 4:25 p.m.

We’ll be watching to see if the Chargers can live up to the hype. The expectation is a blowout win. If it isn’t, what will we say Monday morning?

14. Falcons/Steelers (-3.5) – Sunday, Sept. 13 1:00 p.m.

I would be stunned if the Falcons keep this game close.

15. Jets/Titans (-1.5) – Sunday, Sept. 13 1:00 p.m.

Two bad teams, but it is a revenge game for Titans head coach Robert Saleh, who coached the Jets for three-plus years. I think the Jets win outright.

16. Dolphins/Raiders (-3.5) – Sunday, Sept. 13 4:25 p.m.

Yeah. You know.
