Packers Cap Space for 2026 NFL Free Agency

The Green Bay Packers still have work to do in order to comply with the cap. 

As of March 4, the Packers sit $5 million over the salary cap. By effective cap space, general manager Brian Gutekunst leads an organization currently $6.8 million over the cap. 

Green Bay can get to salary cap compliance either via cuts or contract restructures. The Packers, with simple restructures,  could free up as much as $52 million in cap space. 

Just by restructuring guard Aaron Banks, Green Bay could free up over $10 million in space. 

Packers Free Agents 2026: Doubs Headlines Class

A historically strong Packers offense likely suffers some departures in free agency. 

Wide receiver Romeo Doubs is set to earn a sizable contract. A weak wide receiver class became even weaker after the Cowboys tagged George Pickens. 

Left tackle Rasheed Walker also hits free agency this offseason. Walker struggled to keep Jordan Love clean during his Green Bay tenure, but he featured in 94% of snaps last year. 

Backup left tackle Sean Rhyan also hits free agency at the start of the league year. Rhyan played 77% of offensive snaps last season and has cleared 800 snaps in consecutive years. 

Finally, backup running back Emanuel Wilson hits free agency as a restricted free agent. Under that designation, Green Bay holds the first right of refusal for Wilson. 

On defense, middle linebacker Quay Walker could depart a shaky unit from last season. Walker saw his rookie contract expire after 2025, a year in which he ranked fifth in PFF’s tackling grades. 

Over four seasons with Green Bay, Walker recorded over 80 solo tackles three times. He never finished with fewer than 75 tackles in a single season.
