The Packers clinched the NFC’s seventh seed for the second straight year in 2024. This season, Green Bay counts itself amongst my Super Bowl predictions after a first-round exit.

Packers vs Lions Prediction
Based on Jordan Love’s previous success in the second half and the unknowns surrounding Detroit, my Packers vs. Lions prediction is to consider the Packers’ 2H Spread.
I take no issue with those wanting to back the Packers at a short number for the game. After all, these teams proved much closer in quality last season than the four-win gap suggests.
Detroit finished second in total DVOA while Green Bay finished third. From an expected wins standpoint, Detroit earned 13.5 while Green Bay accumulated 12.7, per ftnfantasy.com.
Home-field advantage likely gives Green Bay an edge, along with the personnel changes on Detroit’s coaching staff.
For whatever reason, I prefer looking for a live betting angle on Green Bay at halftime.
Under Jordan Love, Green Bay has performed markedly better in the second half.
Through 36 career starts, here’s how Love breaks down in the respective halves:
- First-Half ATS Record: 17-19 ATS
- Second-Half ATS Record: 25-11 ATS
Love improves drastically in the latter quarters when he starts the third quarter without a lead.
Sample 19 games in which Love was tied or behind at halftime, and bettors will find he’s 16-3 ATS in the second half.
That played out in both games against Detroit last season.
Across both meetings, Detroit amassed a 34-10 edge in the first half. Meanwhile, Green Bay carried a 35-24 second-half edge.
While I carry pessimism about Detroit’s futures outlook, I simultaneously expect Dan Campbell to have the group ready for Week 1 with time to prepare.
Under Campbell, the Lions posted a 50-28-2 ATS record in regular-season first halves, including 17-4 with eight or more days between games.
As a result, look for an angle on Green Bay live rather than taking a pregame stance.
