The 2023 NFL Draft took place in Kansas City, Missouri, on April 27-29, 2023. Here are the quarterbacks that were selected before the Indianapolis Colts drafted Anthony Richardson.

No. 1 – Bryce Young – Panthers

Before the draft, the Panthers received the No. 1 pick from the Chicago Bears in a massive trade that involved star wide receiver DJ Moore and four draft picks. One of the picks, a 2024 first-round pick, turned out to be USC quarterback Caleb Wiliams, who was drafted No. 1 overall to Chicago in April.

No. 2 – C.J. Stroud – Texans

Houston drafted Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud second overall, who ended up having a stellar first season in the pros. Stroud took home the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award after throwing for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns, and five interceptions.

Stroud also led the Texans to a 10-7 record, clinching the AFC South division title. Houston defeated the Cleveland Browns, 45-14, in the wild-card round and advanced to the divisional round.
