Only a year removed from signing with the Patriots, Stefon Diggs re-enters free agency.

The receiver reached a two-year agreement with New England last offseason. He proved a reliable target for Drake Maye, notching 85 receptions and over 1,000 yards.

At age 33, Diggs offers a ton of NFL experience. Since 2020, he has produced at least 1,000 yards receiving four times in five years.

Stefon Diggs Contract: Predicting Diggs’ Free Agency Deal

Diggs could see a salary decline due to guaranteed money remaining from his New England agreement.

The closest comparison within this year’s free agency class is Mike Evans. The former Buccaneer signed a three-year agreement with the 49ers at just over $14.1 APY.

Diggs’ New England APY came in at just over $21 million. Accordingly, it’s reasonable to expect a decrease in money.

Save for his 2024 season with Houston, Diggs offers durability. He missed only two games in four years with Buffalo and played every game with New England last year.

Look for a deal around a two-year agreement, around $13 million per year.

Stefon Diggs Next Team Predictions

In his last two seasons, Diggs primarily operated as a slot receiver. But before joining the Texans, he showed he could play on the outside.

Team interest could vary depending on how the franchise plans to use Diggs. If he’s a slot receiver, look for a team like Washington to potentially get involved.

If he plays as a receiver on the edge, I’m intrigued with a team like Philadelphia. The Eagles lost Jahan Dotson this free agency and could bolster the receiver room with Diggs.

DeVonta Smith already plays a heavy snap count from the slot, though. If Diggs continues in that role, he could prove a surplus to requirements in Philly.

Finally, a smaller contract by APY could open up a team like Kansas City to sign Diggs.

Question marks remain about the Chiefs’ receiver room, but the team has minimal spending power.
