How Many Super Bowl Rematches Have There Been?Â
Super Bowl history features 10 rematches of previous games, including this year’s game.Â
Of those 10 rematches, three have come since 2020: Chiefs vs Eagles, Chiefs vs 49ers and Seahawks vs Patriots.Â
This year’s rematch is unique in the amount of time that passed since the last meeting (11 years).Â
Super Bowl LIII also featured a rematch – Patriots vs Rams – with 17 years between meetings. The same is true of Super Bowl LII – Patriots vs Eagles – with 13 years between meetings.Â
Of the 10 rematches, five came within four years of the first Super Bowl meeting:

Of the 11 previous rematches in Super Bowl history, the previous winner of the last game is 8-3 SU in the next meeting.Â
Three teams overcame the previous result. Dallas won Super Bowl 30 after losing to Pittsburgh in Super Bowl 13.Â
Miami and Washington played a pair of Super Bowls over a 10-year period. Miami claimed Super Bowl VII, with Washington earning revenge in Super Bowl XVII.Â
Last year, the Eagles avenged their 38-35 loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII with a 40-22 win.Â
