Brian Flores returns to the Vikings for his third year as defensive coordinator.
In his second year, Flores’s defense took a big step forward. After ranking 13th in points allowed during 2023, Minnesota leaped to fifth in 2024.
The Vikings also led the league in takeaways during 2024, up from 19th in 2023.
Flores operated in defensive roles for most of his career. All told, he worked for four different franchises.
The 44-year-old spent most of his career with the Patriots:

- 2006-07: Pro Scout
- 2008-09: Special Teams Assistant
- 2010: Asst. Offense/Special Teams Coach
- 2011: Defensive Assistant
- 2012-15: Safeties Coach
- 2016-18: Linebackers Coach
After his tenure in New England, the Miami Dolphins hired Flores as head coach. Flores finished 24-25 in three seasons with no playoff appearances.
A year in Pittsburgh followed after Flores’ tenure ended in Miami. In 2022, he worked with linebackers and as a senior defensive assistant.
