After four seasons working in college football, Phillips worked seven seasons with the Cowboys:
- 2007-10: Quality Control/Offensive Assistant
- 2011-12: Asst. Offensive Line Coach
- 2013: Tight Ends Coach
Phillips then spent five seasons with the Washington Redskins. There, he continued on as the tight ends coach.
After leaving Washington, Phillips operated as the Rams’ tight ends coach for three seasons. In his final year with Los Angeles, he added pass game coordinator responsibilities.
