The New York Jets haven’t made the playoffs since the 2010 season.
It is currently the longest streak of missing the playoffs in the four major sports after the Sabres made the playoffs this past season.
But maybe this year will be different.
On Tuesday’s You Better You Bet, Nick Kostos made the argument that the Jets could be in the playoff mix this coming season.
“They have good players,” he said. “The Jets are not the Miami Dolphins, and you can make the case the Dolphins are on a better track organizationally than the Jets, and we don’t know if Jeff Hafley is good or bad, and you [could be] convinced Aaron Glenn is bad. But, I’ll tell you what, the Jets are not the Dolphins. They are not talent-wise one of the worst teams in the league.
“And if Geno Smith can rediscover some of his Seattle form at quarterback, the Jets could win eight games this year. They could win nine games this year. Think about it. If Glenn and [Frank] Reich are not disasters, this is a team that come November is still in the playoff mix in the AFC.”
