Each year the NHL awards the Art Ross Trophy to whichever player finishes the season with the most points. It’s named for Hall of Fame player, coach, and executive Art Ross. The award was first given out in the 1947-48 season.Â
The Great One, Wayne Gretzky, holds the record for most Ross Trophy wins with 10 in his career.

Who’s Favored to Win the Art Ross Trophy?
Last season, Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid won his sixth Art Ross Trophy, now he’s favored to win his seventh.
McDavid finished the 2025-26 season with 48 goals and 90 assists, getting him a combined 138 points. He finished eight points above Tampa Bay forward Nikita Kucherov, who came in second place.Â
McDavid has six wins in his 11 seasons in the league. He also has two second-place finishes and one third-place finish.Â
His six wins put him in the company of Mario Lemieux and Gordie Howe. If McDavid were to win another Art Ross Trophy this season, he’d stand alone in second place behind Gretzky.Â
Assuming McDavid is in proper form throughout the upcoming season, he’s nearly a lock for a top three finish in the points race.Â
