With nine games on the NHL slate scheduled for Thursday, there are plenty of chances for NHL betting.
One alternative to NHL betting lines is taking a look at player props.
Below are two NHL betting picks for Thursday relating to player props.
Sebastian Aho Over 0.5 Points (-250)
The Carolina Hurricanes are tied for first in the East and everyone is pretending like they’re not there.
They’re not a flashy team, however, Carolina wins games. They’re the top defensive team in the NHL, allowing only 2.37 goals per game, and their offense is still in top eight, scoring 3.34 goals per night.
Sebastian Aho leads that offense.
Aho has 30 goals and 36 assists in 64 games this season. He centers Carolina’s top line and its top powerplay unit. On the powerplay, he’s totaled 12 goals and 13 assists. Aho has also recorded a point in each of his past five games.

The Canes face a Montreal Canadiens team taking the fifth-most penalties per game at 10:05 and allowing the second-most goals per game at 3.82.
At 1.03 points per, Aho is an excellent candidate to record a point on Thursday night.
Nazem Kadri Over 0.5 Assists (-105)
The Colorado Avalanche will be missing Gabriel Landeskog when they face off with the San Jose Sharks Thursday night.
Nazem Kadri has stepped up when the Avs have been missing big stars upfront in the past. He still leads Colorado in points with 26 goals and 55 assists, including four goals and four assists over his past six games.
The odds are more lucrative taking just his assists and it’s more likely he records an assist than a goal.
Kadri will be playing on a line with Mikko Rantanen, who leads Colorado with 33 goals, while Kadri leads in assists. He will not only be centering the top line in MacKinnon’s absence but also the team’s top powerplay unit.
They’ll be facing a San Jose Sharks team that allows the 13th most goals per game in the NHL with 3.14.
Kadri has shown that he can play big minutes, as well as score at a star’s pace. Look for him to get on the scoresheet on Thursday.
