There are five NHL games on the slate Wednesday and instead of digging into the NHL betting lines, maybe consider looking at a few player props.
A few games feature teams who have been on scoring hot streaks, which means it could be a good idea to look at players on those teams for prop bets.
Here are two player prop options with analysis and NHL betting trends.
Bo Horvat Over 2.5 Shots: +100
A desperate Canucks team should lead to more aggressive play as they face a must-win situation against the Knights.
Bo Horvat is Vancouver’s fourth-leading scorer with 27 goals and 18 assists on the year. Both a shooter and a goal scorer, he receives the fifth most ice-time on the team and is second in shots on goal.
Horvat is second only to Brock Boeser on the Canucks on a shots per-game basis, as he takes 2.72 shots per game, above the 2.5 needed. Horvat also centers the first powerplay unit, so he should have plenty of chances to rip a couple of shots with the man advantage.
Expect Horvat to go over 2.5 shots against the Golden Knights.
Today is Bo Horvat's birthday 🎂 so I think it's a good day acknowledge where he currently sits all-time for the Canucks:
18th in games played
15th in goals
15th in ES goals
14th in ES points
13th in playoff goals
12th in GW goals
11th in PP goals
9th in OT goals
8th in SH goals— Pete Edwards (@pete_gas) April 6, 2022
Elias Lindholm Over 0.5 Points: -200
Elias Lindholm might be the most underrated player in the NHL.
He’s third on the Flames with 1.01 points per game with 35 goals and 35 assists in 69 games this season. He’s playing on Calgary’s first line with Johnny Gaudreau, who is having a Hart-caliber season, so if I can’t get favorable odds on Gaudreau picking up a couple of points, I can still ride his coattails with Lindholm.
In addition to all the shots the Ducks allow, they’re also one of the more penalized teams in the league.
They have the seventh most penalty minutes at 688 which is significant because Lindholm centers the first powerplay unit, so he’ll have opportunities to pick up points there as well.
It seems likely that Lindholm will go over the 0.5 points Wednesday night.
