One of five NHL games Monday night is a battle of teams going in opposite directions.
The Arizona Coyotes have the worst record in the NHL (and worst Stanley Cup odds) and are playing the second of back-to-back games. They’ll be facing the Edmonton Oilers, who have lost three of their past four games and are looking to bolster their NHL playoff odds with a much-needed win.
Below are a few NHL betting picks and analysis for the matchup.
Coyotes vs. Oilers Odds, Total
Moneyline: Coyotes +310 | Oilers -400
Spread: Coyotes +2.5 (-130) | Oilers -2.5 (+105)
Total: Over 6.5 (-110) | Under 6.5 (-110)
Coyotes vs. Oilers Analysis
The Coyotes enter Monday’s contest losers of five straight games, including a 2-1 overtime defeat to the Winnipeg Jets. Karel Vejmelka stood on his head, saving 38 of 40 shots against the Jets.
Unfortunately for the Yotes, he will most likely not be starting in net for a back-to-back. Clayton Keller leads Arizona in scoring with 27 goals and 35 assists.
Meanwhile, the Oilers are seventh in the Western Conference and are coming off a 9-5 loss to the Calgary Flames. The battle of Alberta really was like adding gasoline to a fire, as both teams went off offensively.
Leon Draisaitl had a hat-trick, putting him one goal short of the overall NHL lead with 47. Connor McDavid tops Edmonton in points with 35 goals and 62 assists with Draisaitl right behind him with 94 points.

The Oilers are seventh in NHL scoring, averaging 3.39 goals per game and the Coyotes are 31st with 2.55. Arizona isn’t much better without the puck, sitting 27th in goals against per game with 3.54, while Edmonton is 23rd with 3.26.
Against the puck line, the Coyotes are 33-32 and 18-15 on the road, while the Oilers are 31-35 and 14-13 at home. A couple of trends to watch are Edmonton is 5-0 in their past five as a favorite and the over is 7-0 in the Oilers’ past seven as favorites.
There’s little doubt that Edmonton will win this game, but we like getting more than two goals with Arizona on the puck line. The over is looking like a good bet as well since neither team likes to play defense and the Coyotes will most likely be starting their backup.
