Warsofsky, the +900 favorite for this year’s Jack Adams, fits the mold of the kind of coaching situation that can oftentimes land you recognition from the National Hockey League Broadcasters Association.Â
Many years, coaches are awarded for shepherding a team back to the playoffs or for generally exceeding preseason expectations.Â
His San Jose Sharks team looks poised to check both of those boxes this season.Â
Warsofsky’s young squad — led by Hart Trophy candidate Macklin Celebrini — hasn’t made the playoffs in their new era. San Jose hasn’t had a playoff berth since 2019.Â
After coaching in the AHL and the ECHL, Warsofsky joined the Sharks coaching staff in 2022, working on the defense and penalty kill. Ahead of the 2024-25 season he was promoted to head coach. In 164 games coached, he has a roughly 35% winning percentage.Â
