Meanwhile, the Canucks have won six straight and are desperately trying to make the postseason.
They’re coming off a 6-2 win over the Dallas Stars, where Brock Boeser had a goal and two assists, and Elias Pettersson had two goals and an assist.
J.T. Miller leads Vancouver in scoring with 29 goals and 62 assists.
Ottawa is 26th in NHL scoring with 2.70 goals per game, and the Canucks are 19th, averaging 2.99. The Sens are 23rd in goals against per game, allowing 3.24, while Vancouver is ninth with 2.76.
Against the puck line, Ottawa is 41-35 and 21-17 on the road, while Vancouver is 47-29 and 23-15 at home. Two trends to watch are the over is 3-0-1 in the Sens’ past four games after scoring two goals or fewer in their previous game and the over is 4-0-2 in the Canucks’ past six games.
Ottawa has been much better down the stretch than its record indicates, but Vancouver needs this win.
The Canucks are riding a wave of momentum and it’d be foolish to go against them until it dissipates. Grab ahold of the Canucks for as long as possible because as the other teams fighting for the final Western playoff spot falter, they keep winning.
The Senators puck line is enticing, but I am going with the Canucks outright.
