We’re now a month into the NHL season, which makes now a good time to check in on the Vezina Trophy odds to see who’s the current king in the league’s most essential and also most slept on position, the goaltender.
The goaltender is like the drummer in a rock band. You may not know much about them, or even know how they do what they do.
When they’re good, they’re invisible, blending into the background. When they’re bad, it’s hard not to angrily rip out your AirPods and yell, “Hey, what’s the deal with the drums in this song?”
A rare breed of dude looks out for the drummer at a rock show, and I’d like to think that if you brought that same guy to a hockey game, they’d say, “Hey, who’s that big guy with all the crap on him at the end of the ice…he’s cool.”
For the unaware, the Vezina Trophy is awarded each year to the league’s top goaltender, as determined by the NHL’s general managers.
Here’s a look at where those Vezina odds stand as of November 6.

Who’s Favored to Win the 2025-26 Vezina Trophy?
Connor Hellebuyck, Jets (+300)
The prodigal son has returned to his rightful place atop the Vezina odds leaderboard.
Hellebuyck had a brief absence from the top of the odds in our last Vezina update, being edged out by Igor Shesterkin, who’s still a +325 contender for the Vezina. We all know, though, that any Vezina Trophy when Hellebuyck is in the NHL is Connor’s to lose.
Hellebuyck has started in 10 games for the Jets this season, earning a 6-4-0 record in those games. Through those 10 starts, he’s got a 2.31 GAA, fifth-best in the league, and a .921 save percentage, third-best in the league.
Hellebuyck’s highest goals-allowed mark of the season was a regrettable opening-night fiasco in which he let in five goals.
He’s the main reason why Winnipeg remains a contender for the Stanley Cup and why I think they should be a favorite for the President’s Trophy as well.
