After dropping a 50-burger on James Madison in the first round, Oregon is headed to Miami to try to keep its offense humming against the excellent defense of Texas Tech.

The winner will likely play No. 1 Indiana in the national semifinal.

Oregon vs. Texas Tech Odds

  • Point Spread: Oregon -1.5
  • Moneyline: Oregon -125  |  Texas Tech +105
  • Total: 52.5

Oregon vs. Texas Tech: Orange Bowl Playoff Game

Oregon ranks No. 1 in college football in yards per play, generating an average of 2.68 on every offensive snap.

With an overall offensive success rate of 45.1% – No. 22 nationally – that means Oregon wins with a good-not-great offense that pops dramatically long scoring plays.

Texas Tech likely doesn’t have the offense to keep up in a track meet. Quarterback Behren Morton is easily the worst remaining quarterback in the playoff, and the Tech run game ranks outside the top 100 in EPA/rush.

What Tech does have is an elite defensive front that breaks virtually every pocket. The Red Raiders rank in the top five for EPA/pass, EPA/rush, net EPA/play allowed, and net EPA/drive allowed.

Whoever dictates the style of the game is likely to win. If this game is a shootout, that favors Oregon. Conversely, if it’s a race to 17 points, Texas Tech will have a great chance to advance.
