The Panthers at Giants brings some intriguing choices to NFL betting enthusiasts in Week 7. Both these teams are coming off tough losses at home.
The Giants enter this game as 3-point underdogs. New York football fans are getting restless for better results while Carolina fans were left crushed by an overtime home loss to the Vikings.
So who bounces back faster this week? First, let’s dig into the Panthers at Giants for some insights and predictions.
New York Giants Need to Control the Football
During a grueling part of their season schedule, the New York Giants took another home loss to the Rams, 38-11. But the final score is only part of the story, as frustrated fans booed their team off the field.
New York held the Rams scoreless in the first quarter and had a three-point lead. But then, the floodgates opened with four consecutive Rams touchdowns before the half.
With four turnovers in the first half, New York was never able to mount an attack. Rookie QB Daniel Jones’s three interceptions and no touchdowns tell much of the story.
It didn’t help that rookie wide receiver Kadarius Toney left the game early. He managed only three catches for 36 yards.
But you can’t entirely blame Jones for the result. His 62% completion rate is competent, if not glamorous. Instead, part of the blame has to go to the coaching staff for building their entire game plan around Toney and not making adjustments when he left the game.
Although Leonard Williams was a presence on defense, the Giants spent too much time on the field. New York must control the ball for more than 27 minutes if they hope to win.
Carolina Panthers Hurt by Injuries
The Carolina Panthers lost in an overtime heartbreaker to Minnesota. Despite the fourth-quarter heroics, Sam Darnold did not have a good day.
Losing RB Christian McCaffrey is a big blow to this offense, showing in Sam Darnold’s stats. Yes, he engineered two touchdown drives with less than two minutes on the clock, but the numbers speak for themselves. Darnold was 17-41 with one TD and one interception. With a 2-12 third-down efficiency, this offense is spinning its wheels.
Darnold is carrying a QB rating of 47.1 into New York. He has six touchdowns and six interceptions. McCaffrey won’t be active for at least two more games. So, prospects don’t look bright for the Panthers vs. Giants.
Injuries on the defensive side are another issue. Coach Matt Rhule is optimistic, but giving up 578 yards to the Vikings only exposes a more significant problem. The Panthers lack depth on defense, and that could help the New York Giants.
Which Team Will Recover?
The Carolina Panthers’ third-ranked defense took a big hit in week 6, and the team struggles on offense without their star running back.
Add to all that the overtime loss after a fantastic fourth-quarter comeback and this team is reeling. Yet, despite the last game, the Panthers limp into MetLife Stadium as a 3-point favorite.
The Giants are trying to learn how to win again, but the fans won’t let them off the hook. So, head coach Joe Judge has his work cut out for him. Another home loss could make things ugly and lead to more calls for a 4th head coach in five seasons.
Panthers at Giants Predictions
The Carolina Panthers arrive beaten up physically and mentally. Yet, they come into Week 7 playing with the faint hope of catching up to the Bucs and the Saints.
The New York Giants are playing for the only thing that matters right now; their pride. For me, that could be the motivating factor to turn the ship around.
The Panthers at Giants game comes at the best possible time for New York football fans. I believe that the Giants will win their first home game, so I will take the three points.
I like the Giants at +130 on the Money Line. Do you agree? Sign up for an account at BetMGM’s New Jersey sports betting to place your bets on this and every other NFL game.
