Nate Stanley connected with Ihmir Smith-Marsette on a 6-yard touchdown to extend Iowa’s lead over Miami (Ohio) to 24 points with three minutes remaining in the 2019 season opener. Stanley’s third touchdown of the day pushed the game total to 52 points, four more than the over/under total in college football odds.

Since then, the over is 1-11-1 for Iowa home games.

Iowa hosts Penn State in Week 5, their first home game against the Nittany Lions since a five-point loss in October 2019. That 17-12 loss was the first of five straight home unders for Iowa. Two years later, Iowa home unders are riding another five-game winning streak, and under bettors need another low-scoring game to hit six straight.

As of Thursday, Oct. 7, the total for Saturday’s game is 41 points at the BetMGM sportsbook, the lowest of all Week 5 college football games and the second-lowest Iowa home total of the last eight seasons. Only the Wisconsin game last year (39.5) had a lower total. The Hawkeyes and Badgers combined for 35 points in the second of the five straight under wins.
