  • The British Open will be played at St. Andrews for the 30th time.
  • Cameron Smith (+190) has the best odds to win the British Open after the second round.
  • Here are five long shots to target following the first round.

The 150th British Open is underway at The Old Course at St. Andrews, which is considered the oldest golf course in the world.

When it comes to online sports betting, it is one of the best weeks of the year in the golf world. The action starts in the early morning hours in the United States and continues well into the afternoon.

British Open golf odds have Cameron Smith, (-13, +190) the leader, as the favorite after the second round. But, it isn’t always the favorites that come away with the Claret Jug.

Ben Curtis, the 2003 winner, had 300/1 odds going into the week. Long shots can compete and shouldn’t be discounted.

Below are updated British Open odds and four long shots to target potentially.

British Open 2022 Predictions

Matt Fitzpatrick Odds to Win British Open: +4000

The reigning U.S. Open champion fired a 6-under 66 on Friday after an even-par round on Thursday. He has plenty of confidence and another 66 or better could put some pressure on the leaders. Also, no longer playing with Tiger Woods could free him up a bit.

Adam Scott Odds to Win British Open: +5000

Scott is one of the best putters on the PGA Tour and if he gets hot, anything can happen. Six shots is a lot, but he showed the ability to go low with a 65 on Friday.

Sahith Theegala Odds to Win British Open: +6600

Theegala was one of the last players in the field, and he’s taken full advantage. He came so close to winning the Travelers Championship a few weeks ago and although he is six shots back, he’s shown the ability to make birdies in bunches.

Jordan Spieth Odds to Win British Open: +10000

Are nine shots too big of a deficit to overcome? Maybe. But Spieth has shown the ability to prove people wrong over the years.
