The PGA Tour will head to Mexico this week for the Mexico Open at Vidanta Vallarta in Vallarta, Mexico.

In terms of golf odds, Jon Rahm is a huge favorite at +475 with a number of the top players taking the week off.

Here is a preview of the tournament as well as some predictions to help with your golf betting.

Mexico Open Course Overview

Vidanta Vallarta will host the event and it will be played as a par 71 tipping out at 7,456 yards. This Greg Norman design was built around the Ameca River, just south of Nayarit and north of Puerta Vallarta.

There is minimal historical data to pull from the players in this field but since it is a lengthy track we can assume low scores with its wide fairways and large greens.

Mexico Open Props

This will be a light week for me with the Wells Fargo and the PGA Championship coming up soon, but I will fire at a few larger prices on guys who can make a lot of birdies from time to time.

My first pick is Danny Lee at +400 for a top-20 prop as well as 100/1 on the outright.

Lee ranks fourth in this field in Birdies-or-Better gained over the past 50 rounds and comes into this event making the cut in three of his last four starts. Traveling outside of the United States seems to also bode well for Lee, as his two best results on Tour this season came at the Mayakoba in Mexico (T-7) and at the Bermuda Championship (T-2).

Anirban Lahiri backed up his miraculous second-place finish at the Players Championship in March with a T-13 finish at the Valero Texas Open, yet he is still priced way down the betting board at 66/1 despite this being arguably the weakest field of the year.

Lahiri has gained 1.8 strokes per round Off-The-Tee in his last five tournaments, as well as 0.9 per round in his last 10 and has coupled that with above-average approach play and putting to turn in these stellar results.

His form should bring him to this event riding high with confidence and I like his top-10 prop in addition to his outright number.

The 2021-22 PGA Tour season is the 23rd as a pro for Charles Howell III and he has somehow managed to keep his card despite only winning three total times in that span.

A testament to consistency, the 42-year-old Augusta native has made his hay this year with a combination of accurate driving and an immaculate short game. Howell is sixth Off The Tee and ninth Around the Green in this field, so he should be able to rely on his experiences in contention more so than almost anyone else playing this week if he finds himself in the mix over the weekend.

Mexico Open Predictions

  • Danny Lee Top 20 (+400)
  • Danny Lee Outright (+10000)
  • Anirban Lahiri Top 10 (+650)
  • Anirban Lahiri Outright (+6600)
  • Charles Howell III Top 5 (+900)
  • Charles Howell III Outright (+5000)
