  • The 2025 British Open will be July 17-20 from Royal Portrush.
  • Most winners are at the top of the odds board, but occasionally thereโ€™s a longshot.
  • Scottie Scheffler (+500) has the best odds to win.

Itโ€™s officially British Open week, and a unique one from aย golf betting perspective, as players will take on Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. This links-style course is much different than most on the PGA Tour.

There are plenty of storylines to follow, including who will be the final player to win a major this season, or will Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, or J.J. Spaun win, and there will be a two-major winner like last year in Xander Schauffele.

Scheffler has the best odds to win at +500, followed by McIlroy at +550.

Picking an outright winner is extremely hard, but there are some trends to know for this week.

British Open Betting Strategy

Since this is a major championship, naturally, one of the best players in the game is going to win. Although, if thereโ€™s one major that caters to longer shots, itโ€™s this one.

Like most events, current form does come into play, so itโ€™s important to look at how a player is performing at the moment.

Royal Portrush and links-style golf is much different than typical tournaments on the PGA Tour, so it will be worth taking note of the players who have had success at the British Open, as well as other events in Europe in the past.

Weather will dictate the scores; if the wind and rain pick up, the scores will not be very low, and it will be about avoiding bogeys and making pars. But, if thereโ€™s no wind, it could turn into a birdie-fest.
