The West Coast swing on the PGA Tour will conclude with the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club just outside of L.A. this week.

Tiger Woods is the tournament host, and it is a PGA Tour signature event. This means all the top players will be in the field, including world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and more.

Scheffler has the best odds to win at +300.

Ludvig Aberg is the defending champion, though last year the event was held at Torrey Pines due to the California wildfires. Hideki Matsuyama won the last time it was played at Riviera.

When it comes to golf betting this week, I will be focusing on players who have the best Strokes Gained: Approach, Proximity: 150+ yards, Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee, Good Drives Gained, Scrambling, Strokes Gained: Putting (on poa), Strokes Gained: Par-5 and Bogey Avoidance.

*odds as of Feb. 17.

Genesis Invitational Prediction

Scottie Scheffler is predicted to win the Genesis Invitational with a 25% implied probability, according to betting markets. Rory McIlroy is next at 7.69%.

Implied probability is the overall chance of a potential outcome in relation to the odds.

Genesis Invitational Best Bets

Patrick Cantlay Outright Winner (+2500)

It may come as a surprise, but Cantlay’s winless streak is longer than Collin Morikawa’s was before he won last week. Cantlay hasn’t won since the 2022 BMW Championship.

Cantlay remains one of the more consistent players in the game and still one of the best the United States has in team competitions.

Playing in his hometown event on a course he loves, he could use Morikawa’s win as a springboard.

Cantlay has played Riviera Country Club in a PGA Tour event seven times, and in six of them, he’s finished T-17 or better. He’s finished in the top five in his last two, as well.

Riviera demands solid iron play and Cantlay has always been one of the better iron players on the PGA Tour. He comes into the event in solid form following a T-14 finish at Pebble Beach, where he was 11th in Strokes Gained: Approach and shot a final round 65.

Tommy Fleetwood Top-10 Finish (+150)

Like Cantlay, Fleetwood is one of the best ball-strikers on the PGA Tour, which will serve him well this week.

Fleetwood finished T-4 in his PGA Tour debut this season last week at Pebble Beach and has improved each of the four times he’s played Riviera Country Club.

After finishing T-37 in his debut in 2018, he finished T-10 a year ago.

Look for Fleetwood to continue the positive progression this week.

Adam Scott Top-20 Finish (+140)

Even at age 45, Scott believes he has a lot of good golf left in him. He got a sponsor’s invite this week, and for good reason.

Besides winning the event in 2020, Scott has five other top-20 finishes, including three top 10s.

With a limited field and the top 50 and ties making the cut, Scott has a good chance of finishing inside the top 20.
