Rory McIlroy is attempting to capture the elusive achievement with a win at the 2026 PGA Championship.
He’d become the first golfer since Jack Nicklaus in 1975 to win both the Masters and PGA Championship in the same season.
Nicklaus also achieved the feat in 1963, while Jack Burke Jr. accomplished it in 1956. Prior to Burke, Sam Snead became the first to win both majors in 1949.
Snead achieved the feat in consecutive major championships. All the other accomplishments came at the bookends of the golf season.
