One-and-Done Golf Picks for FedEx St. Jude Championship

Below, golf one-and-done players can find my three preferred selections for the FedEx St. Jude.

For those unfamiliar, OAD pools closely mirror an NFL survivor contest. Players select a golfer each week and earn their prize money at the conclusion of the event.

The catch? Contestants can only use a player once. Additionally, not all prize pools are created equally, which further adds to the game theory.

3 Best One-and-Done Picks for FedEx St. Jude Championship

Option #1: Tommy Fleetwood (+2000)

Given Fleetwood’s core strengths, it should come as no surprise he performed well at TPC Southwind.

Fairways off the tee plus spike iron potential fits Fleetwood to a tee. The strategy led him to three top-four finishes in six appearances at TPC Southwind, including twice in the last three.

Over the last two years, he ranked amongst the best ball-strikers for this event. Last year, he finished T-3rd behind a seventh-placed rating in SG: Ball Striking.

In 2024, he ranked second for the week despite a T-22nd finish, largely due to putting.

Since 2025, he ranks fifth in SG: APP to small greens along with 15th in greens in regulation percentage. If that record continues, he offers players a high floor this week.

Option #2: Sam Burns (+2000)

Burns last finished outside the top-20 in May’s PGA Championship, a T-26th. Over his last five starts, he recorded all three of his top-five finishes for the season.

The sample includes a runner-up at the U.S. Open, a solo third at the Open and a T-4th at the Memorial. All feature penal rough off the tee like TPC Southwind.

Most impressive about Burns is his recent spike in approach potential. Over his last 24 rounds, he’s averaging +1.06 SG: APP per event, up from +0.59 over a 36-round sample size.

Over his last 20 rounds, he cleared 2+ SG: APP five times and +1.5 SG: APP eight times.

Within the former sample, only two players – Cam Young and Collin Morikawa – own a higher spike rate.

Lastly, he owns a strong record at TPC Southwind. He recorded a top-five finish in 2024 and finished T-2nd in 2021.

Option #3: Hideki Matsuyama (+2500)

Matsuyama offers more volatility than Fleetwood and Burns. The high-risk, high-reward potential makes him a decent option for one-and-done players chasing leaders.

Good news first. Matsuyama finished inside the top-10 in three straight events. It has brought his top-10 rate up to 25% for the season after two top-10’s in his first 17 events.

Matsuyama’s fault is his recent volatile approach play. He lost -0.66 SG: APP at the 3M Open before gaining +1.85 at the Rocket Classic.

Last week at the Wyndham Championship, he settled in the middle at +0.85.

Over those three events, Matsuyama spiked to +1.9 SG: APP or higher five times. However, he also lost over 1.4 SG: APP twice.

The course history helps quell some of those concerns. In his last five visits, he never finished worse than 20th, with a win and runner-up finish included.
