As the PGA Tour returns to action, so do the one-and-done pools for golf contest players.

For those unfamiliar, OAD pools closely mirror an NFL survivor contest. Players select a golfer each week and earn their prize money at the conclusion of the event.

The catch? Contestants can only use a player once. Additionally, not all prize pools are created equally, which further adds to the game theory.

Below, I’ve outlined three players worth a look for OAD pools this week at the Truist Championship.

3 Best Golf One-and-Done Picks for the Truist Championship

Option #1: Rory McIlroy (+600)

Jordan Spieth once referred to Quail Hollow as “Rory McIlroy Club.”

McIlroy won at this track four times in his career. Two of those wins came since the 2021 season, including a 2024 Wells Fargo Championship victory.

Across 13 starts at the North Carolina track, McIlroy finished 10th or better nine times.

If you still have McIlroy available, this week offers a safe option. He finished T-2nd at Riviera and won at the Masters over his last four starts.

Entering this week, he ranks third in Par 4 Efficiency: 451-500 yards and second in Par 5 Efficiency.

McIlroy also ranks fifth in SG: Putting when it’s difficult to gain against the field (last 12 months). Given his recent play, don’t be surprised if McIlroy wins for the second straight start.

Option #2: Xander Schauffele (+1100)

Schauffele lacks the McIlroy Quail Hollow resume. However, he previously demonstrated spike capabilities under easier conditions.

Schauffele finished T-28th at the 2025 PGA Championship here. However, he produced a pair of runner-up finishes under non-major conditions in 2024 and 2025.

The two-time major winner brings a stellar record to Quail Hollow. Over his last four starts, Schauffele finished no worse than T-12th.

Both of his top-five finishes this year came over that span.

Schauffele improved exponentially from +0.5 SG: Ball Striking in his first five starts to +2.1 per event in his last four. At Augusta National, he spiked to +3 SG: BS.

Option #3: Ludvig Aberg (+1600)

On paper, Quail Hollow should fit Aberg’s game well. Ball-striking takes on massive importance this week, including a mixture of length and accuracy off the tee.

Aberg ranks seventh in total driving this year. He also spiked to 3+ SG: BS in 30% of his last 20 rounds. Only Schauffele spiked above that benchmark more frequently.

The Swedish international finished fifth or better in four of his last five starts. He also gained strokes putting in six of his last seven starts.

Last year, he gained +1.7 SG: Putting at the 2025 PGA Championship.

Most encouraging about Aberg is his Par 5 efficiency record. He placed fifth in the category over the last six months, including fifth over his last 20 rounds.

Lastly, Aberg ranks eighth in bogey avoidance rate over his last 30 rounds on “difficult” or “very difficult” courses. If his recent ball-striking record keeps up, he offers a very high floor.
