Aronimink Golf Club will host the 2026 PGA Championship. It marks the first time since 1962 that the Newtown Square course hosts a major championship.

The Donald Ross design also featured as the host course for previous PGA Tour events. In 2018, Keegan Bradley won the 2018 BMW Championship at Aronimink.

It also hosted the AT&T National from 2010-11. Previous Aronimink winners include Nick Watney and Justin Rose, who also finished second in 2018.

Aronimink Golf Club Course Profile

Aronimink plays as a Par-70 with four Par 3s, 12 Par 4s and two Par 5s.

The course played 7,280 yards for the 2018 BMW Championship. The course will play just over 100 yards longer for the 2026 PGA Championship.

Aronimink’s main defenses are heavy bunkering and presumed high rough. Between 2016 and 2018, Gil Hanse completed a renovation of the course that added over 100 bunkers.

Cumulatively, Aronimink features 174 bunkers and green complexes, averaging 8,300 square feet. The complexes run large by PGA Tour standards, but require precise iron shots.

Historically, most of these approaches come from short distances. At least 27% of approaches came from between 50-125 yards at the three Aronimink events.

In 2018, players attempted 26.4% of iron shots from beyond 200 yards. The figure marked a big jump from under 20% in 2010-11.

Players who miss the greens will encounter difficult scrambling conditions. The last three times Aronimink hosted a PGA Tour event, the scrambling average was 55.8%.

By contrast, the PGA Tour scrambling average is 58.9%.

Most of Aronimink’s length is contained within the Par 4s. Two of the 12 measure at least 490 yards on the scorecard, with six measuring at least 450 yards.

Hole number 13 plays as the easiest Par 4 on the course. The hole measures only 385 yards with a new forward tee that turns it into a drivable hole.
