If you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan, you’re in for an exciting season. The Eagles’ front office is working hard to transform the team.
The result is a new coaching staff and a new starting quarterback. Making major changes at a few key positions has led to an increase in online betting on the Philadelphia Eagles.
One of the biggest changes is Nick Sirianni taking over as head coach. The new coaching staff is starting to bring life into an offense that has struggled in the past. Here’s how scoring has changed since Sirianni took over the job.
Philadelphia Eagles Scoring Trends
Coming into the 2021 season, the Philadelphia Eagles had nowhere to go but up. The team finished last season at the bottom of the NFC East.
But fans in Philly have much more to be happy about this coming season. Those fans are even happier after putting a 32-6 win in the books over the Atlanta Falcons this past Sunday. But, scoring hasn’t always been so easy for the Eagles.
Philadelphia’s offense ended the season ranked 26th overall in the NFL. If you do the math, out of 32 teams, Philly isn’t looking so hot. But, Nick Sirianni already has things looking up for the Birds.
After Week 1, and thanks to their new quarterback Jalen Hurts, the Eagles have some of the highest rankings in offensive categories they’ve seen in a long time.
2020 vs. 2021
During the 2020 season, the Eagles only completed 334 out of 598 passing attempts. This put them at a 55.9% completion percentage overall. In just one game of the 2021 season, the Eagles have already improved. Under the Sirianni offense, Jalen Hurts completed an impressive 27 out of 35 pass attempts.
This puts the team at a 77.1% completion percentage to date. Philadelphia’s ground game has improved, as well.
It’s too early to compare total yards, so we’ll have to use a benchmark like yards per carry. The Eagles only had 5 yards per carry to close out the 2020 season. In 2021, Philadelphia is already averaging 5.6 yards per carry.
I know it’s unfair to compare a whole season to just one game, but the Eagles are already starting to see some improvement under the Sirianni offense. Of course, a lot of the success has a lot to do with a healthy offensive line.
The Men In the Trenches
The owner of the Eagles, Jeff Lurie, and the coach, Nick Sirianni, have to be pleased with their o-line’s performance in Week 1. Key players like Brandon Brooks suffered from major injuries. Brooks himself has two Achilles injuries and a torn shoulder on his resume.
But, he showed up in Week 1 and helped the Eagles launch themselves to a victory. With the Cowboys, Giants, and Washington Football Team all taking losses, things are looking good for Gang Green.
