Philadelphia Eagles: Can they Win on the Road in Week 7?

The Philadelphia Eagles (2-4) will travel across the country this week to face the Las Vegas Raiders (4-2). Last week, Philly suffered a home loss to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 28-22.

The latest NFL betting lines for Week 7 have the Raiders as a 3-point favorite.

It sounds like a tall order. But can the Eagles win on the road this week?

The Philadelphia Eagles Are Struggling

The Philadelphia Eagles are struggling to win games this year. Unfortunately, last week against the Bucs wasn’t any different.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts completed only 12 passes for 115 yards with one touchdown and an interception. Miles Sanders carried the ball nine times for 56 yards. However, Hurts ran the ball better than that, with ten carries for 44 yards and two scores.

This is why the Eagles are struggling: they continue to depend on Hurts for their whole offense. And that is not how you win games in the NFL.

Against the Bucs, Hurts connected with tight end Zach Ertz for four passes, including one touchdown. Ertz was then traded to the Arizona Cardinals this week for a cornerback and a fifth-round draft pick.

Why would the Eagles get rid of such an essential part of their offense? If they don’t win against the Raiders this week, it’s likely that they’ll already be out of playoff contention with more than half their games left to play.

The Raiders, on the other hand, have a little more to prove.

Eagles vs. Raiders

While the Philadelphia Eagles are already three games behind the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East, the Las Vegas Raiders are trying to keep their playoff hopes alive.

After starting the season with a bang, the Raiders went through a two-week skid that included the loss of Jon Gruden. However, they bounced back against the Denver Broncos last week, winning 34-24.

Derek Carr reignited his game, throwing for 341 yards and two touchdowns. The offense looked good against the Broncos, but the defense played even better. Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater threw three interceptions as 14 of his team’s 24 points came in the fourth quarter.

So the Eagles will face a team at home who is hungry for another big win. The AFC West is a lot better than the NFC East. If the Raiders want to keep pace with the Los Angeles Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs, they will have to take care of the Eagles this week.

Best Bets for the Eagles in Week 7

The Birds at +135 shows that they have a decent shot at beating the Raiders (-160). But I’ll be looking for those odds to move up slightly to maybe even +155.

Their +3 looks more reasonable.

Can the Eagles cover a three-point spread? That might be the better wager for this game.

The over-under at 49 shows that both teams will be expected to score around three touchdowns apiece.

I just don’t see the Eagles’ defense stopping the Raiders and their offensive weapons. So the Eagles will continue to struggle, as none of their issues have been solved, while the Raiders get better at home.

I believe that the Raiders will win this game: Eagles 17, Raiders 27

The Eagles Need to Step It Up

Going into Week 7, the Eagles need to step their game up. They had plenty of chances last week to score against the Bucs. And too often, they couldn’t put anything together offensively until it was too late.

Too many teams have been able to score easily against the Birds. So it wouldn’t surprise me if the Raiders pull away early on in this game.
