We are halfway through the 2021 NFL and college football season, which means the NFL draft talk is getting more intense.

Right now, BetMGM’s NFL odds have Oregon DE Kayvon Thibodeaux as the favorite to go #1 overall in the 2022 NFL draft.

Will he remain the favorite? First, let’s take a look at his chances and other top contenders.

Detroit Is Looking Like the Destination

The last time we did this article, it was more of a toss-up for which team would land the top pick in the NFL Draft. However, going into Week 10, the Lions are becoming the overwhelming favorites to land the top pick.

Detroit had a bye in Week 9, but they still got one step closer to getting the coveted first pick. The Dolphins or the Texans had to win a game (Miami came out on top), and the Jaguars upset the Bills.

What does this mean for the race for number one? The Lions are in the driver’s seat because the only team left within a game of them now is the Houston Texans.

With that in mind, more of the odds may start to focus around what player positions Detroit needs.

2022 NFL Draft Odds

As of November 11, here are the latest odds for the ten players most likely to be selected first overall:

NameOddsSchoolPosition
Kayvon Thibodeaux+125OregonDE
Matt Corral+150Ole MissQB
Malik Willis +450LibertyQB
Carson Strong+500NevadaQB
Evan Neal+700AlabamaOT
Sam Howell+1000UNCQB
DeMarvin Leal+1200Texas A&MDL
Aidan Hutchinson+2000MichiganDL
Desmond Ridder+2000CincinnatiQB
Derek Stingley Jr.+2500LSUCB

The notable addition to this list is DL Aidan Hutchinson from Michigan, making his first appearance in the top ten this season.

He has 1.5 sacks, 11 total tackles, and a fumble recovery in his last three games. Hutchinson will most likely face competition from Thibodeaux and Leal for the top spot in the draft if Detroit does decide to draft someone for their front seven.

Thibodeaux remains a slight favorite to be the top pick. He has two sacks, 12 total tackles, and a forced fumble in his last three games.

Corral Is Standing Out

Recently, two of the top projected players for the 2022 NFL draft, Corral and Willis, went head to head with each other to give scouts an idea of who might be able to step up on a bigger stage.

As expected, the Rebels came out on top in the game, but Corral might have arguably proved that he was the better quarterback. In that game, he went 20/27 with 324 passing yards and a touchdown pass.

In comparison, Willis struggled in the game, going 16/25 with 173 passing yards and three interceptions. But, to be fair, even his coach admitted that they were relying heavily on the QB in that game to keep Liberty in it.

However, Corral has proven he can play against SEC-level competition, and Willis struggled the one chance he had against a team of that caliber.

If that game leaves an impression, expect more talk about Corral being selected number one overall.
