The Pittsburgh Steelers pulled off another win last week against the Tennessee Titans to keep their playoff hopes alive. Despite putting up just 183 yards of offense and trailing on two separate occasions in the fourth quarter, Pittsburgh secured a win thanks to a game-saving tackle on fourth down by veteran defensive back Joe Haden.

This week, the NFL betting lines have the Steelers as a +7.5 underdog on the road as they head to Arrowhead Stadium to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. Let’s look at the prospects of the Steelers having a big game on offense.

Game Day Details

  • When: Sunday, Dec. 26th
  • Time: 4:25 P.M. EST
  • Venue: Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, MO
  • Participants: Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs

Pittsburgh Steelers Scoring Trends

The Steelers’ offense has been woeful this year, as Ben Roethlisberger has been unable to turn back the clock and regain his old form. Pittsburgh is averaging 317.5 YPG (21st) and is scoring 20.8 points per game, good for 20th in the league.

A franchise that has long prided itself on the run game has averaged an atrocious 84.6 yards per game this season (31st), making Big Ben’s job that much more challenging. The Steelers have scored 20 or fewer points in eight of their 14 games this season, including three of the last four.

The Chiefs’ Defense Has Improved

After a shaky start to the season, the Chiefs have started to get healthy on defense and have turned their season around. Before last week’s 34-28 win against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Chiefs’ defense had allowed 17 or fewer points in six straight games, surrendering an average of just 10.8 per game.

Kansas City ranks 8th in scoring defense on the season, giving up 21.1 PPG. They have also been getting after the quarterback, piling up ten sacks in the last four games. That doesn’t bode well for the Steelers, who have had trouble protecting Roethlisberger, allowing him to be sacked 12 times in the previous four matchups.

Steelers at Chiefs: What To Expect

Pittsburgh, a team that has had trouble scoring all season long, will now have to face a red-hot Chiefs team that’s won seven games in a row.

The Chiefs’ offense is back to old form and has scored 104 points in the last three games. They shouldn’t have too much trouble piling up the points against the Steelers’ 22nd-ranked points-against defense, which will have Pittsburgh once again abandoning the run game early and playing catch up.

The X-factor in all of this is the current COVID-19 situation that the Chiefs are facing. Kansas City has a handful of players on the list, including superstars Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill. While they still have a chance to play on Sunday if they clear protocols, it’s something to keep your eye on.

Who Do You Have for This Week’s King of the Weekend Promo?

I believe that the Pittsburgh Steelers will have trouble putting up points in this game, making them a risky pick for the King of the Weekend.

When choosing your teams for this week’s King of the Weekend promo, I would look elsewhere. Head to BetMGM today to pick the six teams you think will score the most points this week for your chance to win up to $50,000.
