It’s been a tumultuous week for Raider Nation. First, they lose their second consecutive game on Sunday after starting the season 4-0, and then they lose their coach. Head Coach Jon Gruden resigned on Monday after a trove of egregious emails were unearthed by the media from his past.

The Las Vegas Raiders will now look to interim coach Rich Bisaccia to lead them into Denver for a challenging road game against a solid Broncos defense. The current NFL betting lines have the Raiders as a 3.5 underdog. Can new Head Coach Rich Bisaccia rally the troops to victory after a week full of adversity? Let’s have a look at what we can expect in Week 6.

Raiders vs. Broncos: Recent History

The Raiders lead the Broncos 67-54-2 all-time in their long and storied rivalry. They’ve fared well in recent years as well, winning four out of the last five matches dating back to 2018. The silver and black have scored 135 points for an average of 27 per game.

Meanwhile, they’ve held the Broncos to just 89 total points over that same period for an average of 17.8. Unfortunately, like Las Vegas, Denver has experienced a few hiccups recently, dropping their last two games after starting the season 3-0.

Las Vegas Raiders Scoring Trends

The Raiders started the season like a house on fire with quarterback Derek Carr lighting up the scoreboard for three straight weeks while leading the league in passing yardage. The Raiders scored 33, 26, and 31 points in their opening three victories, with Carr throwing for over 1,200 combined yards.

Since then, things have cooled off. Carr has struggled to regain his early-season form, and the Raiders have scored a total of 23 points in two losses against the Chargers and Bears. Carr threw for just 402 yards combined in those games, with two TDs, and two picks.

Two Teams Going in the Wrong Direction

With both teams in two-game losing streaks, something’s got to give on Sunday afternoon when the Raiders travel to Mile High. Teddy Bridgewater looks to be back to full strength after coming back from a concussion last week, and the Broncos will try to do what they do best: run the ball.

The Raiders have been gashed on the ground in recent weeks, so it will be interesting to see if they’re up to the challenge of trying to contain the running game. On the other side, Carr needs to block out the noise surrounding his team and channel his early-season heroics for Las Vegas to have a chance this week.

Will Las Vegas Put Up Points This Week?

This week, history is on the Las Vegas Raiders side against a team they’ve dominated in the past few years. But unfortunately for Raider Nation, I don’t think it’s in the cards for them this week. There’s a good chance that the locker room will be a bit out of sorts after all of the distractions, and that won’t be conducive to putting up points against a Denver D that tends to up their game on home turf.

I would look elsewhere this week when making your picks for BetMGM’s King of the Weekend promo, where you choose the top five offenses each week from a pool of ten teams for your chance to win $50,000.
