Both sides enter the 2025 campaign with lofty ambitions. For Arsenal, itโ€™s a chance to capture an elusive league title.ย

For Man United, itโ€™s a chance to capture a European spot with a revamped squad. To start, United gets a team that took four points from six against them last season.ย

Arsenal vs Man United: Prediction

Based on Arsenalโ€™s attacking health and the teamโ€™s success against Man United last season, my Man United vs Arsenal prediction is the Arsenal Moneyline (+115).ย

While United captured a 1-1 draw against Arsenal in the last meeting, a couple of factors render the result somewhat flawed.ย

First, United opened the scoring with an unlikely Bruno Fernandes free kick. Just before halftime, the United captain scored a goal worth 0.07 xG and 0.26 post-shot xG.ย

That put Arsenal in a weak spot. Generally, Mikel Artetaโ€™s side plays better at a neutral game state or from a positive game state.ย

Additionally, Arsenal deployed a Starting XI without some key pieces. None of Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz or Gabriel Martinelli played at Old Trafford.ย

That undoubtedly hindered Arsenalโ€™s ability to grab a lead.ย

During the summer transfer window, Arsenal overhauled its attack. Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres arrive in the hopes of transforming the Arsenal front line.ย

At full health, Arsenal dominated United at home last year. The hosts earned a 2-0 win with a +2.27 post-shot xGDiff edge, per fotmob.com.ย

Is that large gap repeatable on the road? Probably not. However, itโ€™s worth noting that United finished 1-3-5 (W-D-L) against the nine-best teams by road xGDiff at Old Trafford last year.ย

Irrespective of venue, United finished 1-6-7 (W-D-L) against teams that finished last season with an xGDiff of +0.3 or higher per 90 minutes.ย

History also tells bettors itโ€™s profitable to back road favorites early in the season.ย

Dating back to 2012, road favorites in matches 1-4 are 62-26 (70.5%), assuming those teams posted between a -5 and +1 margin in the last meeting.ย

Shrink the sample down to games since the 2020-21 season: 33-9 SU.ย
