It’s one thing to have a winning record as an NFL head coach, but it’s even more critical for sports bettors for top NFL coaches to have a winning record against the spread when it comes to NFL betting.

There are legendary coaches like Bill Belichick who not only win games but also crush the spread. And then there are coaches like Mike Tomlin, who have outstanding win-loss records but are very mediocre against the spread. So let’s look at the best coaches ATS so far this year in the NFL.

Matt LaFleur, Green Bay Packers

No one has been better for bettors this year than Packers’ Head Coach Matt Lafleur. Green Bay has a sterling 9-1 record ATS this season which would have translated to a lot of money if you’ve been riding them all year long.

The Packers are 8-2 on the season, so you would have made more money having taken them against the spread this year than on the money line.

Mike McCarthy, Dallas Cowboys

Say what you will about Mike McCarthy, but he’s been a legend against the spread this year at 8-1 for the Cowboys. He might not understand clock management and when to use timeouts, but he sure knows how to cover a line.

With the Cowboys +2 in Kansas City this weekend, it’s another opportunity for bettors against a KC team that is just 3-7 against the spread this year.

Mike Vrabel, Tennessee Titans

The Titans continue to impress regardless of injuries, and Mike Vrabel could be up for coach of the year if he keeps up this pace. The Titans are first in the AFC at 8-2 and have an impressive 7-3 record against the spread.

Tennessee has proven to be resilient after losing Derrick Henry, and will now host the bottom-dwelling Texans this week at -10. I like the Titans to improve to 8-3 ATS this week.

Kliff Kingsbury, Arizona Cardinals

Young Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury has put together quite a team in the desert as the Cardinals are off to an NFC West-leading 8-2 start that includes a 7-3 record ATS. Both records are impressive, considering the injuries that the Cards have been dealing with this year. Quarterback Kyler Murray has now missed two straight games, running back Chase Edmonds is on IR, and DeAndre Hopkins has missed time and been playing banged up all year long.

However, Arizona is coming off of a humbling blowout loss to the Carolina Panthers and will have to head to Seattle to take on a Russel Wilson-led team looking to get back on track. The Cards are -2.5 favorites on the road, so it will be interesting if they can continue their strong spread play this week.

What NFL Coaches Do You Trust This Week?

While the aforementioned NFL coaches have proven their worth ATS this year, plenty of others haven’t fared so well. Head coaches Robert Saleh and Ron Rivera have struggled in New York and Washington with 2-7 records ATS, so those could make for exciting teams to bet against this season.
