The Ole Miss Rebels’ offense is one of the best in the nation, averaging over 500 yards per game.
Their ability to move the ball and score have made them darlings in the college football betting world this season, especially when it comes to taking the over.
A key piece to the offense is Ole Miss Rebels wide receiver Dontario Drummond. Drummond leads the team in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns.
With an unfamiliar foe in Liberty set to visit Oxford in Week 10, let’s see how Drummond should fare in this out-of-conference matchup.
Dontario Drummond Production
Drummond has caught 40 passes for 658 yards and six touchdowns through the Rebels’ first eight games, working primarily out of the slot. This averages to five catches for 82.25 yards per game.
He’s been held to two receptions, his season-low, twice so far. Unfortunately, those games were against Arkansas and Tennessee in consecutive weeks. He made up for it, though, with catches of over 50 yards and a touchdown in both.
There have only been two times this season where he’s been held to under 50 yards: the Rebels’ loss against Alabama to begin their conference slate and their most recent loss against Auburn.
Drummond Against Out of Conference Opponents
To put it bluntly, the Ole Miss WR has feasted against teams that aren’t in the SEC.
Against Louisville to begin their season, Drummond caught nine balls for 177 yards and a touchdown. That game remains the best single-game performance in terms of catches and yards in his career.
He followed that up with six catches and 107 yards against Austin Peay. He also caught two touchdowns in that game.
Their only other out-of-conference game this year was against Tulane. He caught five passes for 55 yards and a score while also getting two carries and a rushing touchdown.
There is also his breakout in the Outback Bowl last year against the Indiana Hoosiers. He had what had been by far his best game yet with six catches, 110 yards, and a trip to the end zone.
Drummond has proven to be a handful for teams unfamiliar with Kiffin’s Rebels, which includes Liberty.
Liberty Flames Defense
The Flames have been stingy against the pass all season, holding opponents to under 200 per game through the air.
Liberty had allowed just nine passing touchdowns through nine games. They’re also ninth in the nation with 27 sacks on the season.
They don’t make it easy for opposing offenses. That said, they haven’t faced an offense as potent as the Ole Miss Rebels.
What to Expect
I think that Dontario Drummond should have a fantastic game based on his track record. I expect at least five catches, 100 yards, and a score for him in this one.
Drummond has faced better defenses than Liberty’s and has emerged as the go-to guy. As a result, Drummond is an excellent option for Week 10 bets, so check out BetMGM’s online sports betting site for the most convenient way to look at this week’s Liberty at Ole Miss game and all the other college football action this week.
