There will be some very exciting Super Bowl prop bets to wager on this Sunday. One of them is Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon’s rushing yard prop. It is currently sitting at over/under 62.5.

But before discussing how many rushing yards Mixon will get, here’s what you need to know about the game.

Super Bowl 56 Info

  • Venue: SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA

Mixon’s Stellar Year

In a year where Jonathan Taylor ran away with the rushing title, Mixon still got selected to the Pro Bowl. The Cincinnati Bengals’ running back posted 1,205 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns in the regular season.

His 4.1-yard rushing average kept opposing defenses on alert, but Mixon was also involved in the Bengals’ 7th ranked pass offense. He caught 42 passes for 314 yards, averaging 7.5 yards per catch and reaching the endzone three times.

Mixon has rushed 52 times for 190 yards and one touchdown in three playoff games.

In the AFC Championship against the Kansas City Chiefs, Mixon was a significant factor in the win. He had 21 rushing attempts for 88 yards, busting loose once for 23 yards.

Can Mixon Run Wild in the Super Bowl?

Mixon will look to find holes in the sixth-ranked rush defense of the Los Angeles Rams (103.2 yards allowed per game). With an average of 17.3 running attempts in the playoffs, Mixon should get his fair share of touches.

One of the Bengals’ primary concerns is how their offensive line will match up against the Rams’ defensive front. One way to put the Rams’ pass rush on their heels is Joe Mixon.

Cincinnati’s rushing average is highest on first and second down, at about four yards per rush. Eleven of the Bengals’ 16 rushing touchdowns came on first down. Cincinnati might try to get Mixon involved in the early downs to open up the passing game in 3rd and 4th down situations.

The Cincinnati running back might also get more rushing attempts in this game if the pass rush starts to overwhelm Joe Burrow. I believe the Bengals will give Mixon around 20 touches, making 80+ rushing yards a reasonable expectation.

Super Bowl 56: Best Prop Bets for Joe Mixon

With two high-powered passing offenses, it’s easy to forget about the run game.

I expect a massive game from Joe Mixon in the Super Bowl due to Cincinnati leaning on their run game to slow down the Rams’ pass rush. A successful running game will also keep third downs manageable, which will allow Burrow to get rid of the ball quickly. I’m taking the +170 odds for Mixon to have over twenty rushing attempts.

I also expect Mixon to break for some significant gains with more touches than expected. I think there’s value in Mixon to gain over 100 yards for +1050.
