At 5-6, the Philadelphia Eagles don’t have much room for error. In Week 12, they’ll be facing the New York Giants (3-7). NFL betting lines favor the Eagles.

This is a must-win game for the Eagles. Although they are 1-4 at home this season, they are 4-2 as the away team.

Let’s take a look at the scoring trends of the Eagles on the road.

NFL Week 12: A Must-Win Game for the Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles won their first game at home last week after four previous losses at Lincoln Financial Field. They beat the New Orleans Saints 40-29.

Jalen Hurts threw for 147 yards and had 69 yards on 18 rushing attempts, including three rushing touchdowns.

It’s nice to have a quarterback capable of running the ball, but that’s not going to carry the Eagles for the remainder of the season.

Taking one game at a time, they need a win in East Rutherford this Sunday.

The Eagles on the Road This Season

In Week 10, Philadelphia won on the road against the Denver Broncos, 30-13. Two weeks before that, they defeated the Detroit Lions, 44-6.

Those two games might have been the turning point in Nick Sirianni’s first season as head coach.

For their first road game, they opened the season with a 32-6 victory against the Atlanta Falcons. Hurts completed 27 out of 35 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns. He also averaged almost nine yards per carry on seven rushing attempts.

During their second road game, the Eagles got demolished by the Dallas Cowboys, 41-21. Hurts had 39 passing attempts with two scores and two interceptions. He was also the team’s leading rusher.

On the road in Week 5, the Eagles defeated the Carolina Panthers, 21-18. Jalen Hurts threw for almost 200 yards with one interception. In addition, he had two rushing scores.

Two weeks later, the Birds lost at the Las Vegas Raiders, 33-22. Again, Jalen Hurts threw two touchdown passes and was again the team’s top rusher. But there were various attempts this time from Boston Scott and Kenneth Gainwell, in addition to Miles Sanders’ six carries.

These road games were a team finding its true identity.

Road Victories Against the Lions and Broncos

The Eagles had their best game of the season against the Lions. Hurts only attempted 14 passes, but he ran seven times for 71 yards.

With Sanders injured, the Eagles incorporated Jordan Howard into their running game along with Scott and Gainwell. The trio combined for 37 attempts, 144 yards, and four touchdowns.

The Eagles piled up twice as many rushing yards than passing, which led to them dominating the time of possession.

This offense in transition continued to be successful on the road against the Broncos. Hurts threw for 178 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, also running the ball 13 times for 55 yards.

Howard and Scott combined for 23 rushing attempts and 164 yards. Once again, the Eagles controlled the clock and averaged better than 5 yards per play.

So, when the Birds stick to their running game, it takes the pressure off Hurts. When he is confident and relaxed, I believe that this team can beat anybody.

Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants

On the road, the Eagles are ranked seventh in the NFL for points per game, third in the NFC behind the Arizona Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings.

The Eagles (-3.5) are favored at New York in Week 12 with a money line of -175. The over-under for their matchup is 46.

They should have no problems scoring against a Giants’ defense that ranks 22nd in points allowed per game this season.

In alternative odds, over 24.5 for the Eagles offers -110 odds.

These two teams last met in East Rutherford a year ago, when Carson Wentz was the starter for the Eagles.

Sanders had 15 carries for 85 yards, while Scott broke through the Giants’ defense for a 56-yard rushing touchdown. Still, the Eagles lost 27-17.

Hurts will get his first career start against the Giants. I like his chances to lead the Eagles to a big win this week. I’d even take the alternative over 29.5 at +175, as I believe they will steamroll New York.
