The 2022 NFL playoffs are upon us, and one matchup in store for fans and bettors is the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Kansas City Chiefs.

According to BetMGM’s latest NFL betting lines, the Kansas City Chiefs are favored in this game by 12.5 points.

Will they cover the spread? What are the best bets in this game?

Here are some spreads and odds that I think you need to watch for this Steelers at Chiefs game.

Steelers at Chiefs (-12.5)

Before we get to the odds and predictions, here is some game information that you should know.

  • Date: Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022
  • Time: 8:15 PM EST
  • Venue: GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri

Chiefs -12.5

These two teams met up back in Week 16 at Kansas City, and the Chiefs won handily by a score of 36-10.

Kansas City has proven to be the superior offensive team throughout the season, averaging eight more points per game (28.2) than the Steelers (20.2).

Defensively, the Chiefs also allow two fewer points per game than Pittsburgh. For turnover margin, the Chiefs (+4) rank better than the Steelers (+2). The Steelers also have the league’s worst rushing defense, allowing 146.1 rushing yards per game.

I think Pittsburgh will have difficulty staying competitive in this game against an explosive offense like the Chiefs. The Steelers hit the 30 point mark once this season, and they often start slow, averaging only 6.7 points in the first half. On the other hand, the Chiefs score an average of 14.9 points in the first half, which is the third-best in the NFL. I like the Chiefs to jump out to an early lead and pull away in the third quarter.

Under 46.5

The total was 46 points in these two teams’ last game, and I expect a similar result this time around.

Pittsburgh ranks in the bottom ten in total yards per game (315.4) and is 21st in the NFL in points per game (20.2).

On top of this, the Steelers often struggle to run the football, ranking 29th in rushing yards per game (93.1). Admittedly, Kansas City gives up 115 rushing yards per game, but they allowed 130 rushing yards last time they played the Steelers and still held them to ten points.

I don’t believe that the Steelers can score enough points in this game to push the total over.

Chiefs Over 30.5 (+100)

If you are confident that the Chiefs will put up points again, one bet worth considering would be the team total.

Considering that the Chiefs have gone over this margin in their games nine times this season, including against the Steelers in their regular-season matchup, I like their chances of doing it again here. I’m expecting a score of 31-10, putting this bet and the over-under into play.
