The Tennessee Titans face another big challenge in Week 12. After stumbling last week against the Texans, NFL lines have them as underdogs against the Patriots.

Yet, a wager on the Titans might have value with their changing roster. Keep reading for a look at how the Titans can cover the spread for this road game.

Revolving Door

As a seasoned coach in the NFL, Mike Vrabel is not hesitant about making changes. So this week, the Titans made thirteen roster moves to shore up weak spots in the lineup. The most familiar name is WR Golden Tate, who will be a welcome addition for Ryan Tannehill.

Tennessee did part ways with Adrian Peterson, but they brought up two backs to help carry the load. After losing Derrick Henry to injury, the offense has been evolving. Last week, Ryan Tannehill threw for over 300 yards for the first time since Week 2.

But Tannehill also threw 4 INTs and fumbled twice. The rain in Nashville was a factor against the Texans, but Mike Vrabel has brought in running help to take some pressure off the quarterback.

Ryan Tannehill won’t have at least two of his favorite weapons again this week. Julio Jones and Marcus Johnson are both on IR. However, Tannehill may get A.J. Brown back, and Golden Tate could play depending on how well he practices before Sunday.

Patriot Challenges

New England poses problems for Mike Vrabel on both sides of the ball. The Patriots’ defense is 6th against the pass and 1st in the league in points allowed. New England also ranks 8th against the run, so Tennessee’s offense has its work cut out.

First, the Titans will need to stop turning over the ball. Then, the offense will need to improve in the red zone. The Titans haven’t scored more than 30 points since Week 8.

The Tennessee Titans can play good defense. Tennessee is ninth in the league in getting sacks (27), so they can make life harder on rookie QB Mac Jones.

One factor in favor of the Titans is their record on the road this year. Tennessee is 4-1 playing away, and the Patriots are only 2-4 at home.

Tennessee Titans Week 12

Teams that rise above adversity know how to win challenging games. The Titans showed toughness first couple of games after losing Derrick Henry. Injuries have plagued this squad all year, but they do get a bye week after this game.

The good news for the Titans is that they should have some key members back in their lineup after their bye week.

The Titans will lead the division no matter what happens on Sunday. With two victories over the Colts already, Tennessee owns the tiebreaker if the Colts win.

Titans vs. Patriots (-6.5)

In my opinion, momentum has a lot to do with the point spread for this game. These are two quality football teams that should be closer than 6.5 points.

I don’t see a repeat of last week’s debacle for the Titans in Week 12. So I’m taking Tennessee plus the points to cover against the Patriots. With better ball control, they might even win this game.
