The Tennessee Titans head into Week 8 as one of the hottest teams in the NFL. Derrick Henry and company will take their three-game winning streak on the road as they head to Indianapolis to take on the upstart Colts. The last three games have been impressive for Tennessee, as they have put up a total of 98 points in wins that included the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs.
It won’t get any easier this week, as the Titans face a tough Indy team riding a two-game win streak of their own led by the resurgent Carson Wentz. The current NFL betting lines have Tennessee as a +1 underdog on the road. So let’s have a look at what we can expect from this week’s matchup.
Derrick Henry Is on Fire
It’s no secret that the key to Tennessee’s success lies in the run game, which is headed by Derrick Henry. Not only is Henry a hulking specimen at 6’3, 247 lbs., but he’s also deceptively fast. The reigning rushing champion was clocked at an astounding top speed of 21.8 mph on a 76-yard touchdown run against Buffalo in Week 6, the fastest speed of any ball carrier this season.
He went on to rush for 143 yards and three touchdowns in that game and followed it up last week with 86 yards on the ground, 16 receiving yards, and a five-yard passing TD. Henry leads the league in rushing by a mile with 869 yards (Jonathan Taylor is second with 579) and first in rushing TDs with 10.
Piling Up the Points
The Titans have averaged 32.7 points over their last three games as the offense has started to click. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill hasn’t been flashy, but he’s been efficient at managing games and getting the ball into the right players’ hands.
Star receiver A.J. Brown finally looks healthy and has been a difference-maker in the last two games, where he’s combined for 15 receptions, 224 yards, and a touchdown. The Titans are currently ranked sixth in the NFL when it comes to points scored, averaging 27.6 per game on the season.
Tennessee Titans vs. Indianapolis Colts
This Sunday will mark the second and final time these two teams meet this year. The Titans prevailed in the first matchup in Music City with a 25-16 victory back in Week 3. However, they’ll be facing a different beast this time in a Colts team that looks to be hitting its stride.
The Colts hold the all-time series lead with a record of 35-19, but the last two games have seen Tennessee come out victorious. In the previous four matchups vs. the Colts, the Titans have averaged 29.5 points per game, and I would expect a similar result in Week 8 with the way this team is playing.
Expect a High Scoring Game
Both teams have been moving the ball well recently and racking up the points. You’d have to believe that the momentum will carry over into this critical divisional matchup, and there will be fireworks throughout the afternoon.
It should be a close game, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it is decided on the final drive. I see the Tennessee Titans as a great option in this week’s King of the Weekend Promo. Check out BetMGM’s sportsbook for more details, as well as all of your online betting lines for this weekend’s action.
