The NFL playoff picture is starting to come into focus. In Week 9, Tennessee and the Los Angeles Rams, two top-scoring teams from their respective conferences, will meet in a game that could give us an idea of what life without Derrick Henry will look like for the Titans.
The latest NFL betting lines have the Rams as 7-point favorites.
Let’s take a closer look at the Titans at Rams.
Los Angeles Rams: Top of the NFC West
The Rams are at the top of the NFC West and the Arizona Cardinals, who lost their first game last week to the Green Pay Backers.
Los Angeles averaged just under 30 points per game in their first eight matchups. This team may make a strong run for the NFC Championship.
There’s stiff competition in the NFC, including the defending Super Bowl champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So, a game against the first-place Titans should be a decent test for Matthew Stafford.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford in 2021
Against his former team, the Detroit Lions, Stafford threw for 334 yards and three touchdowns. Against the Texans on Sunday, he had similar numbers, throwing for 310 yards and three touchdowns.
When the Rams played the defending Super Bowl champion Bucs in Week 3, Stafford had one of his best games of the year. He threw for 343 yards and four touchdown passes. Even against elite competition, Stafford can still put up substantial numbers.
Tennessee Titans: Top of the AFC South
The Titans remain at the top of one of the weaker divisions in the NFL, the AFC South. As long as they can stay ahead of the Indianapolis Colts, it’s unlikely they’ll have to worry about the Jacksonville Jaguars or the Houston Texans.
Then it’s safe to say that the Titans will be a high-scoring playoff contender this season. They’ve averaged 27.6 points per game after their first eight matchups.
Of course, if Derrick Henry is out for the season, everything could change. The Colts could steal the division, and the Titans could find themselves out of the playoffs. This matchup against the Rams should let us know how good they can be without Henry and whether their offense can still produce at the same level.
Titans at Rams Predictions
I believe that this game will be challenging for Tennessee. The Titans currently rank 23rd in passing, and that’s with the threat of Henry forcing defenses to keep seven people in the box at all times. Meanwhile, the Rams have the ninth-best passing defense in the league.
Before Henry went down, I liked the over for this game. Now, 54 could be a difficult number to reach. Los Angeles averages 29.6 points per game. With the over at 54, the Titans would need to score over 24 points, and they only averaged 27.6 with Henry. It’s hard for me to imagine them scoring more than 20 without him.
What do you think about the Titans at Rams? Can Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill pull off another upset?
