After winning their last two games and getting back into playoff contention, the Philadelphia Eagles (5-6) will face the New York Giants (3-7) on Sunday afternoon in Week 12. NFL odds show that the Birds are favored to win on the road this week.
Here are the top bets for the Eagles at Giants.
NFC East Showdown in Week 12
A few weeks ago, the NFC East was one of the least competitive divisions in the NFL. However, after winning three out of their last four matchups, the Eagles have started to turn that around.
They got a big road victory in Week 10 against the Denver Broncos, 30-13. DeVonta Smith caught four passes for 66 yards and two receiving touchdowns, and the Eagles had over 200 rushing yards with Miles Sanders sidelined.
Last week, Jalen Hurts had only 147 passing yards in a 40-29 victory at home (their first win at the Linc this season). But he ran for 69 yards on 18 carries with three rushing touchdowns.
Now that Sanders is back for the Eagles, Philadelphia will be a tough team to beat.
New York Giants This Season
The Giants were easily defeated 30-10 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football in Week 11. Before that, however, New York had won two out of their previous three games.
A few weeks ago, the Giants won 25-3 at home versus the Carolina Panthers. Devontae Booker was a significant factor, with 51 yards, a rushing touchdown, and two receptions for 15 yards.
In their next win, also at home, the Giants defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 23-16. Quarterback Daniel Jones completed 15 out of 20 passes for 110 yards, including a touchdown.
Booker had another great game, accounting for over 100 yards of offense.
Saquon Barkley returned to the lineup against the Bucs last week, but he only produced 56 yards of offense.
The Giants released Jason Garrett this week. It will be interesting to see if this change increases the offensive production of the team. New York will need to score more points than their average of 18.9 points to beat the Eagles.
Can they do it?
Eagles at Giants
The Eagles at Giants is going to be a big game for the NFC playoff picture. Since their division rival, the Dallas Cowboys, lost two out of their last three games, and the Saints have lost three games in a row, the Eagles have a better chance to become playoff contenders.
A Giants victory would alter things quite a bit, making it harder for the Eagles to make the playoffs. But I don’t see that happening.
The Eagles are playing solid football on both offense and defense. They are the 8th in the NFL in points per game (27), and they’ve only allowed an average of 18 points per game over their past four games. Although their first win at home this season came in Week 11, I don’t believe that it will be their last.
I think the Eagles have a great chance to win on the road this week. A money line at -175 doesn’t offer too much value for bettors. But the point spread at -3.5 feels like a much better bet.
The current over-under is 46. Philadelphia is 3-3 on the road, while the Giants have yet to hit the over at home. I don’t see the Giants scoring much in this game, so I believe that betting the under is the smart play here.
Do You Think the Eagles Will Make a Playoff Push?
I like the Eagles right now. They started the season as a tough call for betting standards, but they’ve improved as the season has progressed. I don’t think the Giants will be able to win at home against Philly.
