As Week 8 approaches in the NFL, a new batch of NFL betting lines has been released.
For bettors, the first thing you do in the week is to look at the lines and see what stands out. Well, here at three NFL ATS picks that are worth looking at in Week 8.
1. Bills (-13.5) vs. Dolphins
The Bills are coming off of a bye here, with a very disappointing Monday Night Football loss to the Titans in Week 6 before that.
However, the Bills have had a week off to get over that and learn from their mistakes. On top of that, they are facing what looks to be a dysfunctional Dolphins team.
There have been rumors that the Dolphins are ready to move off of current quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and trade for Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans, who has his own controversy surrounding him.
But, that is not the only reason that the Bills are worth looking at here. Buffalo, in general, seems to match up very well here.
The Bills lead the NFL in total yards per game allowed (270.2) and total points per game allowed (16.3). Meanwhile, the Dolphins rank last (414.9) and 31st (29.6) in those categories.
With those factors in mind, this arguably looks like the most lopsided matchup of the week, so it is hard for me to make an argument against the Bills here.
2. Giants (+10) at Chiefs
If you are looking for a more significant underdog to back this week, the Giants could be your best option in that category.
Why? Because the Chiefs have proven to be consistently overvalued against the spread this season, being favorites in every game but having just a 3-4 record outright. ATS, the Chiefs have just a 2-5 record, which is the fourth worst in the NFL this season.
While the Chiefs have an elite offense, they certainly have holes with their defense and keeping the football. Kansas City ranks in the bottom five in the NFL in both total yards per game allowed (404.6) and points per game allowed (29).
On top of that, they are tied for last in the NFL in turnover margin at -10. Meanwhile, the Giants do a decent job of hanging onto the football with an even turnover margin.
While the Giants have not excelled on offense or defense this season, they are still worth a look in my mind if the Chiefs continue to have defense and turnover issues.
3. Broncos (-3) vs. Washington
I think this is a pick that can sneak up on people. Washington seems to be a popular road pick here, but I would consider going the opposite route and picking the home team.
Why? The first reason is that Washington has not proven themselves to be reliable, having the worst record ATS in the NFL this season at just 1-6.
Then, if you look closely at the statistics, you will notice that while these two offenses are about even, Denver’s defense has significantly outperformed Washington’s so far.
The Broncos rank fifth in total yards allowed per game (323.4) and fourth in points (18.1). Meanwhile, Washington is near the league’s bottom in both categories, ranking 29th in total yards allowed per game (406) and last in the NFL in points allowed per game (30).
If you combine all of this with the fact that Washington has to play a road game in high altitude, I think the Broncos are a sneaky good pick here.
