The college football odds from BetMGM show the Bulldogs as three-point favorites against Alabama in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

Most stats suggest that Georgia can contain Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young. Georgia has the best red-zone defense in college football. The Bulldogs also have the second-best overall defense in yards allowed per game (253.1). The problem for Georgia is that Bryce Young just obliterated the Georgia defense in the SEC Championship Game.

Read on to learn more about how Bryce Young might perform against the Georgia Bulldogs defense.

Bryce Young Has Been Unstoppable This Year

The last time Young faced off against Georgia, he went off for 421 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air. Young added another 40 yards and a touchdown on the ground on three carries. This season he’s been nothing short of spectacular, amassing the second-most touchdowns in FBS and the third-most yards.

The third-ranked Georgia pass defense (171.7 per game) couldn’t slow down Young the last time these two teams played, and there’s little reason to think the Bulldogs will be able to contain him in the National Championship.

Alabama will be playing without its leading receiver, John Metchie III, but the Crimson Tide has another star receiver in Jameson Williams. Williams had 184 yards and two touchdowns on seven receptions in the SEC Championship Game. Young may not have his best receiver from the regular season, but he still has the weapons to score multiple touchdowns.

Georgia Must Put More Pressure on Bryce Young

The Bulldogs will need to pressure Young to win their matchup against the Crimson Tide. They weren’t able to do that in the SEC Championship Game, as Alabama held the Bulldogs without a sack. The lack of sacks is especially impressive, considering Georgia had the 10th-most sacks (45) in college football in 2021.

As this fearsome Georgia defensive front looks to get after Young in the championship, they might have the advantage of going up against a battered Alabama offensive line. Two Crimson Tide starters suffered injuries in the semi-final matchup against Cincinnati.

Right guard Emil Ekiyor and right tackle Chris Owens left the game with injuries, and their status remains up in the air for Monday’s matchup. Nick Saban’s offensive line could look a little different in round two of Georgia vs. Alabama, and that could give Georgia a fighting chance against Young.

How Does Bryce Young Match up Against Georgia?

Can Bryce Young shred the Georgia defense again, or will the Georgia defense look more like the defense that’s shut down every other opponent this season?

Bryce Young threw for three touchdowns in the last matchup, and I don’t think he’ll have any trouble hitting that mark in the national championship. Young’s offensive line may have some injured players, but he has the footwork in the pocket to prolong plays and avoid pressure.
