I predict that Lima will win via submission over Talbott because of his superior grappling skills. Talbott primarily fights on the feet and likes to showcase his one-punch knockout power. This is another striker versus grappler match-up.

Lima has shown that he can impose his grappling and submission maneuvers under the bright lights of the UFC, which was on full display in his first two bouts in the promotion. Once he gets hold of Talbott, I think he would not let go until he gets a submission or a TKO finish.

Meanwhile, Talbott will certainly have the advantage at the opening stages of the match because it begins standing up. I think Lima can survive and dodge his best punches, which could potentially drain most of his energy and power because he likes to swing for the fences.

Talbott’s route to the UFC was via The Dana White Contender Series in 2023, where he masterfully defeated Reyes Cortez Jr. and earned a spot on the roster of the Las Vegas-based promotion. Then, he made a successful UFC debut against Nick Aguirre in March 2024 via third-round submission.

Since that dream debut, Talbott added two more stoppage finishes over Cameron Saaiman in March 2024 and Yanis Ghemmouri at UFC 303 to extend his win streak to nine. But last January at UFC 311, he suffered his first professional defeat at the hands of Raoni Barcelos via unanimous decision.

Lima dropped his professional debut in August 2015 when he fought Ivan Luiz and was submitted in the second round. But since then, he has gone undefeated in his next 14 fights, which include a title victory in July 2023 against Jonas Magard to capture an Oktagon MMA championship.

That victory over Magard has opened a massive door of opportunity for him, as the UFC signed him in 2024. He made his octagon debut last June against Muhammad Naimov and won via third-round submission. His latest fight was also a unanimous decision victory against Miles Johns last December.
